Talk on Intuituion in Willoughby

Living With Being Sensitive is the title of my talk on Thursday February the 9th in Willoughby. Many inutively sensitive people don't realise how much dross or negativity they collect from their surroundings on a daily basis and what they can do to cleanse and protect themselves.

During this talk I'll offer useful techniques to protect yourself from everyday circumstances which might drain you and reveal how you can re-balance yourself if you have been un-centred by events or circumstances. I'll also ask for volunteers from the audience to demonstrate psychic cords and how ineffective most psychic protection techniqes are.

This talk is suitable for artists, writers, counsellors, clairvoyants, healers and those who are emotionally and psychically sensitive to their surroundings.

Date: Thursday February 9th 2012       Time: 7:00 - 8:30          Cost: Gold coin donation (for charity).

Venue: Heavenly Energies Bookstore  499 Willoughby Road, Willoughby  NSW.     Bookings: 02) 9967 9415

Next Television Appearance

My next television appearance will be on The Circle (Network Ten) on Tuesday February the 7th at 10:00 am where I'll be discussing intuition and offering some simple ways to improve your innate psychic abilities.

Part of this interview was filmed at a recent Melbourne Mind Body Spirit festival where I was speaking on my new book Intuition.

Science versus Spirituality

Science often involves closely examining the veins in a leaf whereas spirituality is about taking a step back to enjoy the whole garden. Both are necessary for a balanced viewpoint. We need to know both the workings of an individual leaf and how that leaf relates to the whole garden and the universe.

While some areas of science involve separating life into minute components, many spiritual perspectives attempt to measure how many different aspects of life influence each other. It's the micro viewpoint versus the macro perspective.

Sometimes clients ask why they are experiencing health issues or why a business is not succeeding. It's my task to see clairvoyantly if any earlier beliefs, actions or events contributed to the client's health or business frustrations. Sometimes the answers aren't forthcoming but occasionally I am able to see a cause or a contributing factor.

When Maria asked why her husband Dante had died at age 53 when he seemed to be fit and healthy I glimpsed him 19 years previously. He was renovating an old house, which had no roof and was essentially a shell surrounded by rubble.  Dante stood outside, covered in dust, deciding what job to tackle next. He took a step backwards into a puddle and was immediately thrown into the air, landing on his back.

On closer inspection there was a live electrical wire passing through the puddle. I was told that this electrical shock weakened his heart, leading to his death almost 20 years later.

I explained what I had seen to his wife. She remembered the incident, and told me that he had been rushed to hospital and discharged later that evening. He seemed fine and was back at work on the renovation project the following day. What he didn't know was that the shock would have long term effects on his health.

New Year's resolutions

I learned many years ago to make only those resolutions I knew I could keep, such as

  • not firing a handgun inside a tent
  • never playing chess with a camel
  • not parachuting into lakes at night
  • not offering to be the driver on a weekend winery tour
  • no longer entering chilli eating contests.

To my astonishment I've kept all of these resolutions and more. Apparently the trick is to make your resolutions before you sip your first drink on New Year's eve.  By the third Margarita you might be willing to find a perfect solution to hostilities in some war torn corner of the globe, a resolution which is sure to be broken.

Telephone Readings                 Click here to see Paul's video on Telephone readings.

In a recent telephone reading an interstate client asked about his job. A new colleague had recently joined the team and wasn't fitting in well with everyone. Clairvoyantly I felt the tension in the workplace and said "It's an unusual analogy but it is as though if you worked in a psychiatric ward, your work colleague might be an assistant, but he really belongs on the other side of the fence; as a patient." There was a long silence before my client spoke.

"Did I tell you that I work in a psych ward?" he asked. Although telephone readings require more intuitive methods than a face to face tarot reading, they can be surprisingly accurate.

I usually keep these readings shorter than my face to face readings as I speak more quickly on the phone. I did my initial phone readings on radio where if you don't speak for a few seconds on radio, listeners wonder if they have lost the radio signal and it is necessary to keep up a brisk patter of conversation.

In-Store Talks

When giving in-store talks, I like to offer demonstrations using volunteers from the audience because seeing the theory in action helps people to understand how it all works. This is especially so for tracing psychic cords from volunteers out to current and past partners, friends or parents.

Often volunteers don't initially recognise the descriptions I give because they become nervous as they face a room full of strangers, staring back at them. Later when I'm signing books they often approach me to say that they remember who I was describing at the other end of their psychic cords. In a talk a few years ago I was describing a man in his fifties with receding dark curly hair and olive skin to a woman who had volunteered. The man I saw was short and stocky, with a ready smile and lines down his cheeks when he smiled. My volunteer didn't recognise the man until a young voice called out from the third row of the audience. "Mum. That sounds like dad!" As laughter erupted the woman nodded and explained that she had been trying to forget her former husband of 23 years.

Advanced Psychic Development course

While on holiday recently I had the opportunity to think about my new book Intuition and realised that I can't effectively cover everything from the book in my current introductory psychic development course.

I decided that it's time to design an advanced course. Advanced students will be familiar with psychic cleansing and protection techniques and so are free to explore more thorough meditations, games and exercises. As with my advance tarot courses, an advanced psychic development course offers less theory and a more experiential approach.

In a Melbourne course we were doing a group exercise named "Follow the Feet." A volunteer student stood in front of the class and we mentally followed her feet into her home that evening.

We treat it as a game to alleviate any possible pressure, with students guessing the floor covering of the living room, the colour of the sofas and describing any pets they see in their mind's eyes.

I asked them to describe the client's bathroom. Three students described three completely different bathrooms. I felt that someone had to be wrong but the volunteer explained that her home had three bathrooms and that they had described all three of them.

As this volunteer was from Japan I asked the students to follow her feet into the home she lived in when she was 8 years of age. I clairvoyantly saw that the floor of each room was a different height from surrounding rooms. There were several steps up to one room and then down a few step into the next room. The volunteer confirmed what I had seen.

Each time students felt lost or confused by the process I encouraged them to return to her feet. We look at her feet physically in the present and then mentally following those feet into her house. This exercise is best completed at the end of a course when student feel relaxed enough with each other to make a guess and be wrong and not feel self-conscious about it.

In another course in Sydney one woman carefully described a bedspread but the volunteer shook his head. Then the student next to her playfully slapped her, saying "That's my bedroom you've got there."

The academy is running an Advanced psychic development course at the end of 2012 if time permits otherwise it will be early 2013. I'll mention it in a newsletter closer to the date.

Strong Interest in Intuition                 Click here to look inside this book

Intuition book launch

Interest in my new book Intuition has been very strong, with three bookstores selling out before I even arrived to give talks. It's also turning out to be a gift book as people prefer to buy a copy for a friend rather than lend their own copy.

Of course Clint Eastwood's film Hereafter didn't hurt either, as the release of the book followed the film. There were more publicity appearances for this book than for my previous nine books and for a moment there I felt like Justin Bieber, but without the hair, the screaming girls and the income - so nothing like him really.

It seems that everyone has one or two psychic experiences they want to share and my talks have ended with discussions about dreams, deja vous, meditation and the perils of oui ja boards.

Hereafter

Hereafter

When Matt Damon stars in a Clint Eastwood film about life after death, you know that psychic experiences are becoming mainstream.

Damon's accurate portrayal of the burdens of being psychic shows the reality of regularly having to wade into the guilt, fear and pain of sometimes desperate clients. It includes a moment when a potential partner pressures him for a reading and begs for more and more information. She soon regrets her curiosity, discovering that you cannot close every door you open.

George Lonegan (Damon) is a medium (between this world and the next) as a result of a near death experience as a child. While George tries to avoid any contact with the deceased, a young boy in London loses his twin brother and his search for contact drives him to explore what happens when we die. Although bleak in parts, it is essentially a hopeful film, richly layered with meaning.

The exploration of the possibilities of life after death can lead us away from embracing life, but the path can sometimes lead us back to facing life with more courage, knowing that we'll be safe when our time here ends.

Hereafter also explores how seemingly random events are not always random, when seen from a distance. It traces how actions and decisions bring us into contact with people we may not otherwise have met, and how our decisions shape our destinies.

The Matt Damon we know from Ocean's Eleven disappears in Hereafter, becoming an ordinary man in an everyday life. Like the clients who seek his services, he is trying to understand his life and his place in the world.

The measured pace of Eastwood's film allows the viewer to discover the story instead of having an opinion thrust at them. After a dramatic start where Marie LeLay (Cecile de France) is caught up in a tsunami, the pace slows. Tension is diffused as we follow young Marcus, in his search for contact with his deceased brother through a series of bad psychics. From one practitioner who used a microphone to listen to the dead, to a woman whose sole talent lay in reading the client's facial responses to her wild guesses and predictions, we realise that wanting to see beyond the veil separating life from the afterlife doesn't mean that we can.

Hereafter is respectful of life's mystery while exploring the possibility that this life is a prelude to something even better. Despite its austere moments, it is essentially an optimistic film.

Hereafter is available on DVD.
